On August 22, 2017, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Curtis O. Cunningham Jr., 33, was involved in a physical altercation in the 100 block of East Adalee Street in Tampa, Florida. As he attempted to enter a vehicle following the confrontation, he was shot. Emergency services transported him to Tampa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m.
Originally from Galesburg, Illinois, Cunningham had relocated to Tampa.
The Tampa Police Department launched an investigation into his death, seeking to identify the individuals responsible. Detectives focused on several young men believed to have been involved in the incident.
Despite these efforts, the case remains unsolved. The Tampa Police Department continues to seek information from the public to bring those responsible to justice.
