On the night of July 3, 2019, Prentice Mathis, a 48-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Dania Beach, near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The incident occurred just before midnight when Mathis was a passenger in a 2008 gray Chevy Impala traveling westbound on Northwest 3rd Street.
