The incident occurred around 8 p.m. when the city's ShotSpotter gunfire detection system alerted police to multiple shots fired in the 1600 block of Avenue S. Upon arrival, officers found Malyk Goncalves inside a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. Despite being transported to a hospital by Riviera Beach Fire Rescue, Goncalves succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
