Stanley Augustin, a resident of Riviera Beach, Florida, died on January 22, 2024, after being shot by his wife, Ishiami Augustin. The incident occurred early in the morning when Ishiami contacted the 911 operator at approximately 4:30 a.m. and confessed to shooting her husband.
During the 911 call, Ishiami informed the operator that she had shot Stanley three times and provided her address.
When questioned by the operator if the shooting was accidental, Ishiami responded that it was not, stating that her husband was threatening to kill her and was "running up on" her.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the Riviera Beach Police Department found Stanley Augustin's body inside the house, along with a firearm located on the couch. In subsequent interviews with detectives, Ishiami described a confrontation with her husband earlier that morning. She claimed that the two had gotten into a fight because he was upset that she was not being a good wife as she prepared to leave for work. Ishiami stated that her husband was pacing back and forth, threatening to kill her, and at one point said, "I'll bury you." She alleged that when he began to "charge" at her, she grabbed her gun from her purse and shot him three times in the chest out of fear for her life.
However, an investigation into the surveillance footage from the couple's home security cameras revealed discrepancies in Ishiami's account. The footage showed that the firearm was already in her hands, contrary to her claim that she had pulled it out of her purse. Additionally, it was noted that Stanley was approximately 10 feet away from Ishiami at the time of the shooting, which contradicted her assertion of where she was standing when he "charged" at her.
Ishiami Augustin has been accused of second-degree murder with a firearm. Throughout her interviews with detectives, she showed no remorse or emotions for her husband's death. The case highlights the complexities and potential inconsistencies in the events leading up to the fatal shooting.
