Anthony Mull, a 25-year-old male from Kissimmee, FL, tragically lost his life on November 16, 2021, in a shocking triple homicide that stunned the local community. Mull, along with 43-year-old Justin Atkinson and Atkinson's 16-year-old son Calvin, were fatally shot by their neighbor, 41-year-old Kevin Torres. The incident occurred at their apartment complex on Royal Palm Drive and Gardner Lane in Buenaventura Lakes, Kissimmee.
According to Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, Torres, who had a history of criminal activity, confessed to the shootings after being apprehended by law enforcement.
The sequence of events began when Torres, suspecting Justin Atkinson of attempting to rob him, shot Atkinson in his apartment. Torres then proceeded to Atkinson's apartment in another building within the complex, where he encountered Anthony Mull. Believing that Mull would retaliate for shooting Atkinson, Torres shot Mull as well. Calvin Atkinson, who was in another room, came out upon hearing the gunshots and was also shot by Torres. Two teenage girls, aged 16 and 11, were present in the apartment during the shootings and were forced by Torres to collect valuables under the threat of being killed.
Following the murders, Torres fled the scene in a stolen car, leading to an hours-long standoff with law enforcement in Orange County. During the standoff, Torres fired multiple gunshots through the car's windshield before being taken into custody. He later provided a detailed confession to the authorities, admitting to the killings and explaining his actions. Torres was subsequently charged with multiple counts of premeditated murder, armed burglary, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and other related offenses.
