This refusal was reportedly due to his desire to seek personal revenge against his shooter, rather than cooperate with law enforcement.
The investigation into McGee's death led to the arrest of La’Darion Chandler, a 19-year-old self-proclaimed rapper from Lakeland. Chandler was charged with first-degree murder after detectives discovered a rap video he had posted online, in which he bragged about shooting McGee.
