Deputy Game Warden James S. White, aged 61, tragically lost his life on October 17, 1923, in Castella, California. The incident occurred during a prohibition raid conducted by federal and county prohibition agents. Warden White, unaware of the ongoing raid, was informed of a disturbance at a local hotel.
