Terrill Marquis Thomas, a 20-year-old resident of Pomona, California, tragically lost his life on June 2, 2012, in a fatal shooting incident. The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. at a triplex located in the 700 block of East Columbia Avenue. According to the Los Angeles County coroner's records, Thomas was one of two men fatally shot at the scene. The other victim was identified as Laderrick Lee Rogers, also 20 years old.
Both men suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim, identified as Thomas' father, Vincent Dean, was critically injured and transported to L.A. County-USC Medical Center.
The shooting took place while the victims were visiting a tenant in the triplex. The owner of the building, Greg Estel, reported that two law students living in another unit narrowly escaped injury when a bullet came through their window and landed in a box of cereal. The police were also investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred six minutes after the shooting and less than two miles away, which sent at least one person to an area hospital.
Despite the severity of the incident, investigators were left with few clues. As of the latest reports, there were no suspects identified, and the motive behind the shooting remained unclear.
