Walter R. Grider, a 34-year-old Sergeant with the Beverly Hills Police Department, tragically lost his life on April 14, 1933. The incident occurred while he was on duty, attempting to apprehend a burglary suspect. During the pursuit, Sergeant Grider fired warning shots to halt the suspect.
