In the summer of 2016, the life of David Lamont Hill, a 45-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short on the streets of West Baltimore. On the evening of August 4th, in the Upton neighborhood, specifically on the 1600 block of McCulloh Street, Hill was shot multiple times. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find him suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries right there on the street.
David Lamont Hill, known to his friends as 'Hue,' was born in Baltimore on November 10, 1970. He was a father to one daughter and was remembered by his family as a loving individual. He had worked in construction and, at the time of his death, was employed at University Hospital.
His death left a profound void in the lives of his mother, daughter, sisters, and a longtime girlfriend, along with a host of other relatives and friends who cherished him.
In the wake of the shooting, Baltimore City Police detectives launched a homicide investigation. However, the case has grown cold over the years, with no suspects publicly identified and no arrests made. The circumstances that led to the fatal shooting remain unclear to the public. In an effort to generate new leads, Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland has offered a reward of up to $7,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for David Lamont Hill's murder. The case remains an open and active investigation, one of the many unsolved homicides that continue to trouble the city of Baltimore, leaving a family waiting for justice.
