David Earle Bailey, a 21-year-old police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, tragically lost his life on October 21, 1977, succumbing to gunshot wounds sustained six days earlier. On October 15, 1977, while off duty, Officer Bailey was involved in a robbery attempt at the North Rialto Shopping Center. Several juveniles approached him and a friend, displaying a firearm.
