On May 13, 1982, Riverside police officers Philip N. Trust and Dennis C. Doty were tragically killed in the line of duty. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. when the officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Jackson Chambers Daniels Jr., a convicted bank robbery suspect who had failed to report to begin serving a 13-year sentence.
