Daniel Osentowski, an 11-year-old boy from Riverside, California, tragically lost his life on November 22, 1984. Daniel was walking home with his 13-year-old cousin, Shannon Prock, when they were accosted by a man in uniform. The assailant, later identified as Horace Kelly, drew a pistol and attempted to kidnap Shannon. In a heroic act, Daniel intervened to save his cousin, but was fatally shot by Kelly during the struggle.
