John Baird, aged 33, tragically lost his life on December 15, 1912, in Riverside, California. He was serving as the Acting Chief of Police for the Riverside Police Department at the time of his death. The incident occurred when Baird was reprimanding a fellow officer for drinking while on duty. The officer, who had been sent to investigate a brothel, was found to have alcohol on his breath.
