On December 8, 1986, a tragic mass murder occurred in Oakland, California, claiming the life of 4-year-old Dwayne Miller among others. The incident took place in the early morning hours when David Esco Welch, a 28-year-old heroin and cocaine dealer, broke into a home on Pearmain Street. Welch, accompanied by his girlfriend Rita Lewis, was driven by a combination of personal vendettas and a violent disposition.
