Jamel McGuire, a 27-year-old aspiring basketball player from Chula Vista, California, was tragically shot and killed on June 12, 2014. McGuire, who was known as "Mel Mel," was the brother of former NBA player Dominic McGuire. On the night of his death, Jamel was playing video games on the couch in his apartment while his two friends were playing cards nearby.
