Landry L. Calhoun, a 43-year-old man, was tragically shot and killed on December 18, 2014, in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on the 1600 block of South Van Ness Avenue. Responding to multiple calls of shots fired, Los Angeles Police officers found Calhoun lying on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:35 p.m.
Detectives believe that Calhoun and another individual were standing in front of an apartment complex when two men approached and fired multiple rounds, striking both Calhoun and the other person. The second victim was transported to a hospital and was expected to survive.
The suspects in this case were described as two black men wearing black hoodies, who were seen fleeing the scene on foot, heading north on South Van Ness Avenue. Despite the detailed descriptions, the assailants were not immediately apprehended. The Los Angeles Police Department urged anyone with information to contact the West Bureau Homicide division or to provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
