Isauro Birrueta, a 26-year-old resident of North Hollywood, Los Angeles, was tragically shot to death on the night of May 29, 2020. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Runnymede Street, just west of Lankershim Boulevard. Birrueta, who was in a wheelchair at the time, was found unresponsive on the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
An autopsy later confirmed that Birrueta died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a report of an "assault with a deadly weapon" and discovered Birrueta at the location. According to the police, a vehicle was seen driving west on Runnymede Street, stopping mid-block, and multiple shots were heard before the vehicle continued westward. Despite a thorough investigation, including canvassing the area for evidence, witnesses, and surveillance footage, no suspect description or motive has been provided by the authorities.
