Jordi Astudillo, a 22-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on November 18, 2015, in the Vermont Square neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, shortly before 5 a.m., in an alley located in the 900 block of West 41st Street. Astudillo was with another man when a car approached them.
A man exited the passenger side of the vehicle and inquired about their gang affiliation before opening fire. Astudillo was struck by the gunfire and was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:03 a.m.
The investigation into Astudillo's death was led by the Los Angeles Police Department's Criminal Gang Homicide Division. Preliminary witness information indicated that the suspect fled the scene in a light-colored sedan, heading north towards West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Despite efforts to gather more information, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
