The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the Richmond Greenway Trail, near Lovonya DeJean Middle School, where Xavier had previously attended. The shooting was detected by the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system, prompting officers to respond to the 3300 block of Ohio Avenue.
