Omar Luciano-Jesus Magallanes, a 22-year-old resident of Bell Gardens, California, tragically lost his life on February 27, 2017. According to reports, Magallanes was walking with a friend on the east side of Ajax Avenue when a car approached them from the north. An individual inside the vehicle opened fire, striking Magallanes multiple times. His friend, a 16-year-old, was unharmed. The vehicle then sped away, heading north. Magallanes was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:28 p.m. The cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation into Magallanes' death was undertaken by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau, in collaboration with the Bell Gardens Police Department. Despite their efforts, the authorities were unable to identify a motive for the shooting or provide a description of the suspect. The case remains open, with investigators continuing to seek information from the public. They have urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward, offering anonymity through Crime Stoppers.

As of now, there have been no arrests or suspects publicly identified in connection with Magallanes' murder. The lack of leads has made it challenging for law enforcement to make significant progress in the case. The community and Magallanes' family continue to hope for justice and closure, relying on the possibility that new information might emerge to aid the investigation.
