David Cortez, a 25-year-old resident of Bell Gardens, California, tragically lost his life on November 9, 2016. According to reports, Cortez was riding his bicycle in the alley behind his apartment complex on the 5600 block of Quinn Street around 9:25 p.m. when he was confronted by two men. Witnesses recounted seeing the two men enter the alley, hearing gunshots, and then observing the men flee onto Jaboneria Street. Unfortunately, the witnesses were unable to provide detailed descriptions of the attackers. Bell Gardens police officers found Cortez lying in the alley near his bicycle. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m. The cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds.
