Ismael Armando Gutierrez Jr., a 21-year-old Hispanic man from Bakersfield, was killed in Arvin, California, on December 17, 2017, only hours after celebrating his birthday with family and friends. In the early morning darkness, at about 3 a.m., Arvin police began receiving reports of gunfire in the area of South A and Langford streets.
