In the early morning hours of September 20, 2022, tragedy struck a neighborhood in Jackson, Mississippi, when 17-year-old LaGavin Jenkins Jr. was shot and killed while he was in his bed. The fatal shots were fired from outside his home on Myer Avenue, penetrating the walls and striking the teenager. Jenkins sustained two gunshot wounds to his upper body.
