The shooting was linked to gang-related violence, with Maynor being affiliated with the Surenos gang, while his cousin, Olga Gisel Salgado, was associated with the rival Norteno gang.
Olga Gisel Salgado, 19, was charged with murder for her alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of her cousin, Maynor. According to court documents, Salgado made a phone call to another Norteno gang member, instructing them to beat up members of the rival Surenos gang, including Maynor. This call led to the arrival of a Norteno member who carried out the shooting. Salgado was also charged with assault with a firearm for the shooting of Maynor's brother and faced an enhancement clause for committing the crime to benefit a criminal street gang. Another suspect, Erick Canseco, 23, was charged with being an accessory to the shooting. Canseco allegedly drove the shooter to the scene and later admitted his involvement in the incident.
