District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe mentioned that the police were having difficulty locating the gunman, who was believed to have possibly fled to Mexico. The case drew attention from the community and organizations like Mothers Against Murder, which offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the suspect, identified as Julian Rico Santana.
