On November 4, 2018, Jonathan Ruiz, a 19-year-old resident of Vista, California, was tragically shot and killed near the Vista Transit Center. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when Ruiz was walking along a path by the Vista Manor mobile home park. He was approached by two individuals who opened fire, striking him twice in the torso. Despite emergency responders' efforts to perform CPR and transport him to a local hospital, Ruiz was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
