Eduardo "Eddie" Javier Cardenas, aged 39, tragically lost his life on December 1, 2020, in Bakersfield, California. On that fateful evening, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Flower and Miller streets in East Bakersfield, where they found Cardenas suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to Kern Medical, he succumbed to his injuries hours later.

at the time. Green was apprehended without incident on December 9, 2020, and subsequently booked on suspicion of murder, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. In January 2025, Green pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Cardenas. This plea agreement means that Green accepted the charges without admitting guilt, a common legal strategy to avoid the uncertainties of a trial. As a result, Green faces a life term in prison, with a sentence of 15 years to life, plus an additional 10 years for the firearm-related charges. Sentencing is scheduled for the following month.
