The party, initially intended for a small group, grew significantly larger due to social media promotions.
The joyous occasion turned into a scene of chaos and violence when gunmen opened fire, resulting in the deaths of Andres Morales Garcia, Rudy Godinez-Aguilar, and Hector Rigoberto Carrillo-Ruiz. Additionally, five other individuals were injured in the shooting, including one person who was critically wounded and placed in a medically induced coma.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that the suspects, Enrique Ramirez-Calmo and Geovani Garcia-Jacinto, were members of the South Side Locos 502 Sureños, a predominantly Guatemalan-American gang. The motive behind the attack was rooted in gang rivalry, as the suspects falsely believed that members of a rival Norteño gang would be present at the party. Despite the absence of any rival gang members among the victims, the suspects proceeded with their violent plan. The case against Ramirez-Calmo and Garcia-Jacinto was built on substantial evidence, including gang-related materials, video footage, and a confession from Ramirez-Calmo. The defense argued that Ramirez-Calmo's confession was coerced and fabricated to avoid being labeled a snitch by his gang.

He received multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole, as well as additional years for his crimes. Ramirez-Calmo remains incarcerated, awaiting transfer to the state prison system.
