On March 26, 2016, Malik Booker, a 21-year-old resident of Richmond, California, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on the 1700 block of Maine Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Booker lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to revive him, Booker was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. His death marked the seventh homicide in Richmond for the year 2016 and the fifth in the month of March alone.
