Tyis Leon Rush, a 21-year-old male from Bakersfield, was killed on August 14, 2021, in a shooting on Planz Road near Raider Drive in south Bakersfield, not far from South High School. That evening, officers were sent to the 700 block of Planz Road at about 6 p.m. on reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Rush wounded by gunfire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
