In the summer of 2020, the city of New Orleans was struck by a series of violent acts, one of which was the death of 34-year-old Kevin Thomas. On the morning of Monday, July 27, 2020, Thomas was involved in a fatal shooting in the Treme neighborhood. The incident occurred at the intersection of North Claiborne and Orleans avenues.
