Jose Pilar Rojas, a 59-year-old resident of Ramona, California, tragically lost his life on August 4, 2022. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the 1800 block of La Brea Street, where Rojas was found shot in the head near the yard on the side of his home. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries two days later. Eduardo Contreras, a 29-year-old man, was already in police custody on unrelated charges when he was identified as the suspect in the murder of Jose Pilar Rojas. Contreras was arrested on August 5, 2022, on suspicion of drug possession in the 1700 block of La Brea Street, not far from the crime scene. On August 15, while still in custody, homicide detectives added charges including murder, possession of a controlled substance while armed, and illegal possession of a firearm.
