On August 28, 2022, Russell Lee Harris, a 37-year-old resident of Whitmore, California, was found dead from a gunshot wound in the 31000 block of Whitmore Road. The Shasta County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene late Sunday morning after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Harris's body and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
