Henry Lawrence Baird, also known as "Red," was found dead on June 18, 1950, on the beach at Table Bluff, California. He was 27 years old at the time of his death. Baird, a sergeant in the Harbor Craft Detachment of the transportation corps in Alaska, was discovered face down in the sand with a single gunshot wound to his head.
