Jaylin Johnson, an 18-year-old student, was shot and killed on May 28, 2012, during Chicago's Memorial Day weekend, a time notorious for an uptick in violence. Johnson, who was home from college for summer break, was shot in the head in the Roseland neighborhood on the city's South Side. Another man was also wounded during the incident. Both were transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where Johnson later died from his injuries.
