Maleek Smith, a 14-year-old African American boy from Chicago, IL, was tragically shot and killed on April 14, 2022. Maleek, a freshman at Muchin College Prep, was walking to the store with his brother and a friend in the Homan Square neighborhood when the incident occurred. According to reports, they were confronted by an individual who brandished a gun and began chasing them.
