On September 9, 2022, the bodies of Yoana Estephany Munoz Tovar, 27, and Edgar Tomez, 32, were discovered in a residence along Taft Highway in Bakersfield, California. The Kern County Coroner's Office identified the incident as an apparent murder-suicide. According to the coroner's report, Munoz Tovar had been shot multiple times, while Tomez was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The discovery was made by sheriff's deputies around 4:30 p.m. on the same day.
