On October 16, 2023, in Bakersfield, California, 36-year-old April Trujillo Salinas and her 17-month-old daughter, Mercedes Jimenez, were tragically killed in an apparent murder-suicide. The Kern County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on South M Street around 6:15 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the bodies of April, Mercedes, and 30-year-old Luis Carlos Jimenez, each with gunshot wounds.
