Detective Charles J. Cameron, aged 49, tragically lost his life on July 17, 1904, in Queens, New York. His death was the result of a gunshot wound inflicted by another patrolman who mistakenly identified him as an offender. Detective Cameron was on duty in plainclothes at Fuhrer's Park, near 25th Street and Jackson Avenue, during a picnic event that featured a live orchestra.
