John Cahill, a constable with the Haverstraw Village Police Department in New York, met a tragic end on August 15, 1905. On that fateful day, Constable Cahill and another officer were responding to reports of armed individuals in the area. They had already searched and released several pairs of men when they approached another pair to inquire about weapons.
