Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little, was a prominent African American Muslim minister and human rights activist. He was assassinated on February 21, 1965, at the age of 39, while preparing to address the Organization of Afro-American Unity at the Audubon Ballroom in Manhattan, New York. During his speech, three men rushed the stage and shot him multiple times at close range. He was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to New York's Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
