On April 27, 1966, John S. Lane, a 48-year-old language teacher from Islip, NY, tragically lost his life in a school shooting incident at Bay Shore High School. The incident began when 16-year-old James Arthur Frampton, a student at the school, had a confrontation with two Black students during a social studies class.
