Keenan Russell, a 21-year-old aspiring rapper from Islip, NY, tragically lost his life on May 28, 2013. He was shot and killed in Central Islip, a neighborhood that had been experiencing a surge in gang-related violence. On the night of his death, Russell was attending a house party on Acorn Street when he was approached by members of the MS-13 gang. Mistakenly believing Russell to be a member of a rival gang, the assailants opened fire, fatally wounding him.
