Herbert W. Jones, Jr., an Industrial Account Clerk at the Attica Correctional Facility, tragically lost his life on September 13, 1971, during the infamous Attica prison riot. Jones, who had served as a Sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, was taken hostage by inmates on September 9, 1971, when the uprising began.
