Robert W. Mandel, a 26-year-old police officer with the New York City Police Department, tragically lost his life on April 19, 1977. Officer Mandel and his partner, both in plainclothes, were responding to a call regarding drug sales at 762 Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn.
