In the summer of 1980, the life of 30-year-old Charles Mongitore was violently cut short in Brooklyn, New York. On June 5th, he became a victim of the notorious DeMeo crew, a ruthless faction of the Gambino crime family known for their brutality. Mongitore's refusal to bow to the mob's demands sealed his fate; he had pressed assault charges against the son of a Gambino soldier, Salvatore Mangialino, and would not back down despite repeated warnings.
