On February 1, 1993, Randel Artis, a 16-year-old from Amityville, NY, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident at Amityville High School. The incident occurred during a confrontation involving Randel and his cousin, Shem McCoy, who was also 17 years old at the time. The altercation, which had been part of a long-standing dispute between the two, escalated to violence when Shem McCoy pulled out a gun and shot Randel.
