In the quiet pre-dawn hours of April 16, 2020, the community of Amityville, New York, was disturbed by the sound of gunshots. A 25-year-old Black male named Romario Williams was found lying on the ground on Park Avenue with a gunshot wound. The discovery was made by Amityville Police officers and Suffolk County Police First Precinct officers who had responded to a call of shots fired around 5:15 a.m.
