On March 21, 1996, Eastchester Police Officer Michael Frey, a 29-year-old man who had served on the force for six years, responded to what he believed was a routine call for a disturbance. It was a call that would tragically be his last. As he arrived at the residence, not yet having stepped out of his patrol car, a sniper's bullet found its mark, ending his life instantly.
